Araucaria bidwillii Bunja Nut

A large Native Australian conifer growing between 30 - 45mtrs in height, found naturally in tropical to subtropical climates but has been found to fruit as far south as Victoria.

Fruiting generally happens around Autumn on average every 3 years, the giant fruit can weigh between 10 - 15 kilos so can be quite dangerous to walk under!

Uses 

Excellent indoor or patio plant when young. Seed from the giant fruit can be eaten fresh or roasted, also can be ground down to make hummus or biscuits and bread.

Position & Soil

Handles a wide range of climates and soils but does prefer well drained.
