Acmena smithii minor Red Head

An attractive large shrub/small tree with glossy rounded, deep green foliage. New growth flushes red to deep claret then changes to chocolate before hardening off the dark green. The dense foliage can be pruned down to 1.5m high and is fire retardant and psyllid resistant. Clusters of small white flowers are followed by bright purple berries. It grows to 6 metres high and 2 metres wide, and is myrtle rust resistant. It likes full sun to part shade, and does well in most soils. A great plant for hedging, topiary and screening. Pruned to create a standard style tree, great as a feature or used for topiary as they enjoy being hard pruned.
