A perennial favourite for the tropics and subtropical coastal areas of eastern Australia is the Mango tree. Not only grown for its famous tasty nutritious fruit, but also forms a dense, broad dome shaped canopy that makes a useful evergreen shade tree. Fragrant flowers are formed on large pink panicles on the end of the branches in winter to spring. Pink new glossy smooth leaves add to its appeal.
Delicious fruit can be eaten straight from the tree, extremely varsatile being used for chutneys, deserts and smoothies, often used in curries and basically anything else!
Likes sub tropical conditions, planted in full sun.
